Setup Guide

ToDo Stacker

Getting Started

ToDo Stacker takes about a minute to set up. There's no account and no sign-in — your 14-day free trial starts automatically the first time you open the app, and your tasks sync to your other devices through your own iCloud account without any setup.

When you first open the app, a guided onboarding walks you through four quick screens to personalise things and teach you the one gesture that makes ToDo Stacker tick. You can change any of these choices later in the Options tab.

1

Install the App

Search for ToDo Stacker on the App Store (coming soon) and install it on your iPhone. The app is built for iOS 26.

That's the whole installation — no account to create, nothing to sign up for. Open the app and the onboarding begins.

2

Choose Your Language

The first screen welcomes you to ToDo Stacker and asks for your preferred language. Tap a language and the whole screen switches to it instantly, so you can see exactly what you're getting before you continue. ToDo Stacker supports 10 languages:

  • English (UK)
  • English (US)
  • Afrikaans
  • Greek
  • French
  • Spanish
  • German
  • Dutch
  • Japanese
  • Chinese (Simplified)

Everything in the app — labels, headings, and descriptions — appears in your chosen language. Tap Continue when you're happy.

3

Pick a Theme

Next, make the app your own. There are two choices on this screen:

  • Theme Mode — how your theme is applied: Custom (the full theme colours everywhere), Light, Dark, or System (which follows your device setting)
  • Colour Theme — a grid of 16 colour themes to choose from

Tap around and watch the screen restyle itself live — there's no wrong answer, and you can change both settings any time in Options. Tap Continue to move on.

4

Try the Drag

This is the fun one. The third screen is a live practice board with three sample task strips on it. Touch and hold a strip, then drag it up or down to reorder — it's the exact same gesture (right down to the little thump when a strip drops into place) that you'll use on your real boards.

Reordering strips is the heart of ToDo Stacker — whatever's on top is what you do next — so it's worth the ten seconds of practice. Tap Continue when you've got the feel of it.

5

You're All Set

The final screen gives you a quick tour of what's waiting inside: Stacks for organising your tasks, Timers for focused work, Manage for keeping everything tidy, and Widgets for your home screen. Tap Start Stacking and you land on your board, ready to go.

6

Create Your First Stack

Your board starts empty on purpose — a Stack is a board for one area of your life (Work, Home, that trip you keep not planning), and yours will make more sense than anything we could pre-fill. Tap Create Stack, give it a name, and you're in.

Inside your Stack, tap the + button to add your first strip — a strip is a single task. Add a few, then use that hold-and-drag gesture from the practice screen to put them in order. Top strip first — that's the whole system.

A couple of things you don't need to do anything about: your Stacks sync to your other devices automatically through iCloud, and the app only asks for Calendar, Contacts, or Reminders access if you choose to link one of those from a strip's editor or import a Reminders list — never before.

Where to Go Next

Once you're comfortable with Stacks and strips, there's plenty more to explore:

  • Timers — run a Pomodoro or countdown timer right inside a strip, with Live Activities on your Lock Screen
  • Timers and Alarms boards — dedicated boards for your timers and alarms (Pro features, included in your trial)
  • Progress — see how you're actually doing across your Stacks
  • Options — change your language or theme, manage your Stacks from the Manage hub, and find the About screen
